In partnership with PCOM Residency Planning Services, the Virtual Mock Residency Interview Program connects PCOM DO alumni with M4 students for 30-45 minute virtual mock interviews in their preferred specialty, followed by personalized feedback that only someone who’s been in their shoes can provide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to serve as a mock interviewer?

To serve as a mock interviewer, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a PCOM DO, internship, or residency program graduate
  • Be currently practicing as an attending or resident physician
  • Be able to commit to at least one 30-45 minute mock interview from mid-September through October.
  • Have access and feel comfortable using an electronic device with camera, video, and internet
  • Be comfortable providing verbal feedback to the student
How much time does it require?

You’ll spend approximately 30-45 minutes with your student. If you choose to provide more than one interview, you’ll spend that much time with each student. Students are asked to be as flexible as possible and work with your schedule to coordinate an interview time.

How does the pairing process work?

Once you submit your interest form, PCOM’s advancement engagement team does work behind the scenes to pair you with a student whose interests and career align best with your background and expertise.

My student has not reached out to schedule a meeting. Should I follow up with them?

We encourage students to take the first step in contacting you using your preferred contact method to begin coordinating the interview. You are welcome to reach out to them first, but you do not need to. Students do have several major deadlines in September that may cause them to wait before contacting you (new rotations beginning, ERAS applications due). If you have not heard from them by early October, please reach out to them or contact Advancement Engagement at alumni@pcom.edu.

Can students share their grades, board scores, or transcripts with me prior to their interview?

Due to privacy laws, PCOM cannot share this information with you on behalf of a student. You may ask them to provide their personal statements, but it is not required. Interviewers should assume that the student meets the criteria to be invited for a residency interview.

Do I need to share my feedback on my student(s) with PCOM?

You do not need to share your feedback with us formally unless you are concerned about the student’s abilities to be successful in the match or if the student communicated or acted in a way that was unprofessional or inappropriate.
